Soft and wasp comparison
Soft was
made in 2006 and released in 2007 on April 27th. . It is Director
and screen play was by Simon Ellis. The running time is 14 minutes. The film is
about a man pushed to his limits by a local gang of young toughs when they show
up at his house and start harassing him and his son. The genre is social realism
and drama. The themes of the film were gang violence, bullying, family and fighting
back. The narrative is non-linear. There are no flash backs, flash forwards or
thought tracks. It is a single stranded film. For example it starts off with
the son being beaten up by some thugs. This then links when the same thugs
start to bully his dad. Therefore it is single stranded because they link in at
the end.
Wasp was made
in 2003 and was directed, screenplay and written by Andrea Arnold. The genre is
social realism and drama which is exactly the same as Wasp The film is about a
woman trying to raise her children but at the same times trying to have a life
at the same time. The running time for wasp is 26 mins. The film themes are
family, violence, poverty and relationships. This is similar to the film Soft
because they both have an element of family and violence but the violence is definitely
to a less of a degree in Wasp. It has a similar narrative line with no flash
backs, flash forwards or thought tracks. Wasp is single stranded narrative line
which is the same to Soft.
